A lot of the inspiration for our clothing comes from the traditional Croatian nošnja. So in keeping with traditions, our next focus was to modernise the Zovnica bag.
During our research we heard this traditional bag being referred to as zovnica or zobnica, so we will refer to it as the zovnica bag in this blog post.
This is one of those beautiful accessories we wanted to bring to life for our customers!
Traditionally, the Zovnica bag is made of wool and is handwoven. The Zovnica bags we have had the pleasure to see have colourful patterns and a long strap. During our visit to the Šokačka Kuća in Slavonia, we were told that these bags were very functional and were traditionally worn on Sunday’s or special occasions.
In order to modernise the Zovnica bag, it took several attempts until we reached our final design.
To pay tribute to the vibrant colours of the traditional Zovnica bags, we decided to use our colourful Red Folklore pattern from the Šestine area.
Our first attempt includes fringe that goes all the way around the bag.
The final design includes our Red Folklore pattern with a simple row of fringe for a chic modern look. We’ve also included an adjustable strap so that the bag can be used across the body or over the shoulder. Our Fringe bag also includes a zipper closure to ensure your belongings are stored safely.
Now you can wear our modern version which is designed for versatility and convenience. It's functional, practical and made to fit your essentials.
